Alessandra, founder of Osteria Otello in Barnes

Originally from the sun-drenched region of Puglia, Alessandra brings a lifelong passion for Italian hospitality, authentic cuisine, and the art of creating welcoming spaces.

While her professional background began in pharmaceuticals, her heart has always belonged to the world of food, people, and gathering around the table.

After spending five years back in Italy, Alessandra returned to London to embark on a new chapter: bringing a beloved Italian restaurant in Barnes back to life alongside a close friend.

Together, they carefully reimagined the space, creating a warm and inviting osteria inspired by the timeless charm of Italy's neighbourhood restaurants - places where guests are welcomed like family and every meal is an occasion to be enjoyed.

Alessandra's love of cooking was shaped from an early age in the kitchens of her grandmother and mother, where recipes, traditions, and stories were passed down through generations.

Today, those same influences can be found throughout the menu, with many dishes inspired by treasured family recipes and the rich culinary heritage of Southern Italy.

At the heart of her philosophy is a simple belief: great food begins with great ingredients. By combining traditional Italian cooking with seasonal monthly specials, Alessandra and her team aim to offer an authentic taste of Italy - one that celebrates quality, generosity, and the joy of sharing good food in good company.
